MEET THE MAKER

Interview with Dan Swincer – St Hugo

Daniel Swincer became a winemaker simply because it looked like a fun thing to do. And he’s sure having a lot of fun at St Hugo. His day involves tasting a lot of wine, twice a day, or he’s in the vineyards deciding best time to pick, or planning logistics to keep everything flowing. He’s come to learn a lot from others in the industry, “Everyone is so open and willing to share knowledge and experiences, I think it’s made the Australian wine industry so dynamic.” Daniel loves the challenge that winemaking presents, such as the St Hugo grenache shiraz mataro which he says, “is like a challenging jigsaw puzzle to blend”.
