Fortunately for Mick Neil and Stef Constantoulas, the brains behind Sydney-born craft brewery Philter, they — and their beer — ticked every box.
Launching in 2017 over a shared passion for beer and an understanding of what makes a brand stand out from the crowd, Philter quickly established itself as the cool kid of craft. A nod to 1980s Australiana characterises the brand’s aesthetic, while its first beer, the XPA, found fans thanks to its tropical fruitiness and drinkability.
Six years down the line, Philter is virtually synonymous with Sydney’s craft beer scene. The company’s Marrickville brewery has flung open its doors to fellow beer lovers, making it a hub of brewing, drinking, and vibing in the city’s inner-west, while the company’s beers resonate among craft enthusiasts and traditionalists alike. A ginger-spiked brew makes for the perfect summer afternoon thirst-quencher, while its Hazy Pale Ale and Super Cool Lager are as crisp and refreshing as they come. You can find them all, plus Philter’s signature XPA, at Vintage Cellars.
