Vintage Cellars

Do date night right with cocktails to impress this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day has a tendency to creep up on you (just ask anyone who has tried to nab a bunch of flowers on their February 14 commute home). Sure, you could book a restaurant a month in advance, but we posit there’s nothing more romantic than greeting your significant other with a cocktail as they walk through the door.

Date nights at home are the new date nights out — skip the parking debacles and waiting in queues and change straight into your pyjamas after dinner.

Forget tired associations of takeaway and a movie — this Valentine’s Day, date night at home is about to get a whole lot more romantic with two cocktails featuring our Australian Best Of award winners. Best served by candlelight.

French 75s with oysters

Bring a little gilded glamour to your date night with a citrusy Champagne cocktail served alongside a platter of freshly shucked oysters and a homemade vinaigrette. Put some jazz on the speaker et voilà!

Picnic indoors with a Strawberry Daiquiri

You needn’t venture beyond the four walls of your very own palace to enjoy a romantic picnic this Valentine’s Day. Lay out a rug, throw down some floor cushions and settle in for a picnic-inspired meal complete with summery Strawberry Daiquiris.

Ingredients (Serves 1)

7 fresh strawberries

2 shots 100 Souls White Rum

½ shot lime juice

⅓ shot Monin Pure Cane Sugar Syrup

Method

1. Muddle strawberries in the base of a shaker.

2. Add all other ingredients and shake with ice before straining into a chilled glass.
